The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) confirmed a weak explosion on Mt. Pinatubo on Tuesday, November 30.
The Pinatubo Volcano Network issued an advisory after recording seismic and infrared signals of a weak explosion at Mt. Pinatubo between 12:09 p.m. and 12:13 p.m.
The public is not permitted to enter the Pinatubo crater until the cause of the explosion has been determined.
The agency also advised communities and local government units surrounding the area to be on the constant alert for both earthquake and volcanic hazards.
Mt. Pinatubo's eruption on June 15, 1991, will be remembered as the world's strongest volcanic eruption, killing over 700 people. The catastrophic damage in Luzon lasted for two years.
